Tainá’s new single is out. another cool production by LEFT. and Luar of a beautiful song by Tainá. It’s about living away from your home country but loving both places, something I can clearly identify with.
It was a bit of a rush to get it mixed and mastered in time but we did it and Gwyn Mathias did a beautiful job of mastering it, as usual.

I’m sorry I’ve been neglecting my website. The second half of 2019 had me involved in the recording and mixing of the upcoming Rita Redshoes record. It was a pleasure and an honour to work on it, unfortunately, one week after we finished it, the lockdown hit and everything hit a grinding halt.
Still, there were cool songs from Elisa, Diana Castro, and Tainá.

I reached out to my old school friend, Mikkel Solnado, CEO at Great Dane Studios. He told me he was working with this new artist, Tainá, and asked if I would be interested in recording her. I jumped at the opportunity!
The first result of the new collaboration with Great Dane Studios is now out, with more to come out soon.
A couple of years ago I had the pleasure of working with the talented Calista Kazuko on her debut EP. There were several tracks that were released as singles but these two belong together! Press Stop & Rewind and Sweet Jailbird should be listened to in sequence.
With budgets forever shrinking, efficiency is of the upmost importance. Engineers are expected to be able to do great work in a short time or it’s not worth your while. A template is often a good way to mix efficiently. If you look at interviews with many mix engineers at the top of their game, you will see that they often use a template.
Back in July I was contacted by Freeze Productions to record on a shoot they were doing of the Vitor Pereira Quintet. It sounded like a fun challenge, the video would be shot in a black box room above a pub in Walthamstow.
So here I am downloading the Entry Lists and I find out that the album I worked on for Bryan Adams, recording the four acoustic versions you find on the record, is being considered for GRAMMYs.
We tend, as people, to always search for what's the best whatever. Oh, Pro Tools is the best DAW (cough cough), Neve gear is the best, oh Neumann mics... Jimi was the best guitarist, Malmsteen is the best... None of these discussions make any sense. There is not one single true answer to any of these questions.
